Ethiopian Opal is a softer stone and hydrophane stone, can be scratch/crack easier than others stones/gems from being hit or dropped. Being hydrophane means the stone has a porous surface absorbs water which can alter the appearance and stability of the stone.
Would not recommend wearing this as a daily piece, instead would keep it safely stored and worn on special occasions.

If the stone gets wet and absorbs water, there is a chance the color in the stone may disappear and the stone will look clear, most of the time the stone will return to normal after the water dries out (will typically take a day to weeks depending on how much water was absorbed. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO SPEED UP THIS PROCESS) Please be careful with your Opal necklace and avoid getting it wet, absorbing water can damage the stone's structural integrity and cause cracks and more.
